RIVERWORKS Gallery in Greenville, SC, Features Works by Lynn Greer

RIVERWORKS Gallery, located at Art Crossing on the Reedy River in downtown Greenville, SC, will present the exhibit, NITE LITES, featuring watercolors by Lynn Greer, on view from Sept. 4 through Oct. 29, 2009.

"My current body of work focuses on the glow of lights in urban, suburban and rural settings," says Greer. "I am interested in exploring the many possibilities inherent in this subject matter. How many ways can I portray the stages of evening, using both color and contrast? I am also fascinated by the variety of hues in the night sky, depending on season, weather and reflected light from the landscape below. The lights are the stars. The architecture and surrounding landscape play supporting roles."

Greer has been a Greenville resident since the age of eight, and Fine Arts Center student. She is a 1979 UGA graduate with a BFA in Graphic Design. After eight years as an Art Director, she left to join the ranks of "poor starving artists". For the last twenty-one years she has made a living as a working artist; painting commissioned works, organizing one-woman exhibits, taking part in outdoor arts festivals and entering juried competitions.

Greer is a member with excellence of the South Carolina Watermedia Society, a signature member of the GA Watercolor Society, and a board member of the Metropolitan Arts Council (Greenville, SC). She has recently been included in American Artist Watercolor Magazine, as one of twenty emerging artists across the US. She lives in downtown Greenville with her husband Henk VanDyk.

RIVERWORKS Gallery, located in suite 220 on the River Walk in downtown Greenville, is a small student art gallery operated by the faculty and students from the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Greenville Technical College.
