Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, Features Works by Harry DeMaine

Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, will present an exhibit of oil paintings by Harry DeMaine (1880-1952), on view from Sept. 10 through Oct. 19, 2010.

The exhibition will include works painted during DeMaine's time in Gloucester, Massachusetts during the 1930s and 1940s.

Born in Liverpool, England, DeMaine was trained at the Liverpool City Art School and at the prestigious Julian Academy in Paris, where he exhibited in their annual Salons. DeMaine was a member of the New York Water Color Club, the American Watercolor Society, and the Salmagundi Club in New York. He was honored with many solo exhibitions throughout his life and twice won the Shaw Prize for Water Color. In 1985, Harry DeMaine was given tribute in a two-man exhibition at the Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
