Rick Rhodes Photography & Imaging in Charleston, SC, Features Works by m-dot

Rick Rhodes Photography & Imaging in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, EMOphobia, featuring works by m-dot (Mike Edge), on view from Sept. 9 - 30, 2010.

For those who don't know, "emo" is slang for someone who is emotionally vulnerable or socially unaccepted. Emotional turmoil is necessary for growth of the human spirit however, and should be embraced rather than feared.

In a collection of expressive surreal artwork, local born artist Mike Edge (under the moniker "m-dot") creates a narrative of emotional turmoil with often a humorous or surreal twist. Each illustration contains details to the life and thoughts of the central "characters", often exploring a contradictory world of realism and imagination, pain and euphoria, self-destruction and recovery.

Edge is an Illustration graduate (MFA) of the Savannah College of Art & Design and currently teaches design in the Charleston area. He has been creating expressive colored pencil and marker illustrations since 2000.
