Recent Works by Wayne Trapp at Gallery C

Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, is proud to present the most recent works of renowned North Carolina artist Wayne Trapp on view through Nov. 11. Trapp began his artistic career as a sculptor over 30 years ago and, in the last decade, has established himself as a painter of note as well. His large bold abstract oils are synonymous with modern abstract expressionism and are finding their way into major corporate, museum, and private collections.

The current show will feature the large oil on canvas works as well as smaller works in cra pas (oil pastel) on paper. This newer series of works, by using oil stick instead of brush, creates a different feel playing up the artists' drafting skills while toning down his use of color. The dynamic energy that is signature to Trapp is apparent in both media.

Wayne Trapp was born and raised in a Pennsylvania coal mining town and with the proper encouragement, went on to study art at Pratt Institute, New York, the Institute of Art, Pittsburgh, and Ohio State University. He has traveled extensively in Europe and Japan, finding inspiration everywhere he goes. Wayne Trapp has made his home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC since 1980. Gallery C has represented Trapp since 1994.
