Hand in Hand Gallery Features Work by Two National Artists

Nationally-recognized artists Steve Aimone and Mark Ferri will be exhibiting their work at Hand in Hand Gallery in Flat Rock, NC, through Nov. 11, 2000.

Originally from New Jersey, Steve Aimone's mesmerizing oil paintings reflect his passion for the changing atmosphere of the sky. Years spent in the Catskill Mountains of New York inspired his early works and established him as an accomplished landscape painter. As his work developed, he became less interested in what was happening in the foreground, and more interested in the beauty of the sky. Skies became his link to working comfortably in abstraction, while creating dramatic, light-filled works with breathtaking realism.

Having recently moved to North Carolina, Aimone is comforted by the gentle mountain terrain and expansive skies. Reminiscent of his childhood in the Catskills, his work now reflects the passion he feels for the mountains and, more importantly, skies of Western North Carolina.

Charlotte, NC, native Mark Ferri has been a ceramic artist for over 14 years. A former actor, Ferri translates his love of expression and movement in his whimsical and colorful clay creations. The vessels he creates, from vases to teapots, have often inspired comments such as, "They look like they're dancing!" Comments like that speak to Ferri's passion for the work, as well as his technical skill as an accomplished ceramicist.

In his studio in Asheville, Ferri prepares works for galleries throughout the country, as well as several art shows each year.
