The Wells Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features New Works by Susan Mayfield West and Gary Gowans
Nationally recognized artist Susan Mayfield West and gallery newcomer Gary Gowans are bringing their unique and varying styles to The Wells Gallery in Charleston, SC, during the month of October. The exhibition open Oct. 5.
Gary Gowans
Known for his realistic figures, still lifes and landscapes, Gowans' style is attention grabbing in its detail. The artist uses crisp lines and showering light to define waterfront scenes. He selects his viewpoint and paints in a technique appropriate to the subject.
"Gary's diverse style is inspiring," says Hume Killian, owner of The Wells Gallery. "His attention to detail is ever-present, but at the same time he can be full of energy."
Susan Mayfield West
Susan Mayfield West draws her inspiration from the land and water that wind through the Lowcountry of SC. Her expressionistic use of vivid color invites the viewer into a serene world of sunsets and Carolina blue skies.
"Susan's work is centered around emotional and symbolic content," says Killian. "Her connection with the land and water has defined the direction of her painting.
