Smith Killian Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Betty Anglin Smith
Smith Killian Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will present an exhibition entitled, Rural Carolina, featuring new works in oil by Betty Anglin Smith. The exhibit will be offered during the Fourth Charleston Fine Arts Annual weekend hosted by the Charleston Fine Art Dealers Association, Nov. 1-3, 2002. The exhibit will continue through Nov. 16, 2002.
Collectors and critics alike have said that Smith's work is the epitome of what Charleston's artistic community has to offer. For her new collection, this local favorite and nationally known artist has focused her talents on the landscape of the Carolinas.
"This body of work includes an exhibit of paintings of the rural landscape of the North Carolina highlands, where the land appears as a patchwork quilt of hills, meadows and outbuildings whose tin roof is reflecting the sun, the hillsides are layered with veils as the atmosphere deepens," says Smith. She also explores the Lowcounty of South Carolina amid live oaks, Spanish moss, and salt marshes. Smith has developed a mature, bold look with exaggerating color and expressive brushwork. Her daring signature style has solidified her national reputation as a pioneer in contemporary realism.
