Centro Latino and the Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, Features Works by Mexican Artists
Centro Latino and the Caldwell Arts Council have joined forces to bring the exhibit, De el Sur, From the South, to the Art in Community gallery located at the Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce in Lenoir, NC. The exhibit will showcase the talents of local Mexican artists Jorge Torres, Angel H. Vite, Arsenio Sanchez and American, Frances Hairfield from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30, 2004.
Each participating artist displaying work at the Chamber of Commerce has agreed to donate the proceeds of the sale of one painting to Centro Latino of Caldwell County, Inc. Centro Latino is a local United Way agency working to promote exchange, awareness and solidarity among the distinctive groups in Caldwell County and to assist the Spanish speaking population by providing access to vital services that will enhance their ability to make positive contributions in our shared society.
It is important that Centro Latino continue to recognize the value of art in their community. Jorge Torres, local artist says, "Without art there will not be peace, without art there will not be love, without art there will not be happiness even when that happiness is just for the moment that you are taking out of your time to see this work made by someone who wants to share his wonderful inspirations with you."
Centro Latino of Caldwell County also receives generous support from members of the community, Z. Smith Reynolds and the Funders' Collaborative for Strong Latino Communities.
