October Issue 2004
Charleston County Public Library in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Aaron Baldwin
Artist Aaron Baldwin will share his work through Oct. 31, 2004, in the Saul Alexander Foundation Gallery, located on the first floor of the downtown Main Branch of the Charleston County Public Library in Charleston, SC. The exhibit is entitled, Head Watching Wright Brothers Flight.
Baldwin offered the following artist's statement: "During the past few years, I've been using a lot of heads in my work. They're not meant to be portraits, although, Roman busts are sort of what they came from. And, I don't mean for them to be macabre, although, they are without bodies, for the most part."
"For me, the head is a symbol, the way that the heart is a symbol. The head represents intellect and emotion, everything that is not mechanical or physical about a person. The context or stuff that I place around it, determines the specific meaning."
"Recently, I have not been able to work
in my studio, as much as I would like. I suppose Head Watching
Wright Brothers Flight has something to do with that."
