Art League of Henderson Co. in Hendersonville, NC, Offers Works by Karen Dickson
The Art League of Henderson County will present the exhibition, Reign of Peace, featuring works by Karen Dickson at Opportunity House in Hendersonvile, NC, from Oct. 3 - Nov. 4, 2004.
Dickson, who is from Saluda, NC, had the following
to say about her exhibit: "I dedicate this body of work to
peace. It represents my process toward regaining my equilibrium
from reacting to the current war in the Middle East. No doubt
war is based on fear and anger and greed powerfully out of control."
"My reaction to the situation was anger," Dickson continues.
"I expressed my opinions to my friends and was eager to put
my feelings to canvas. I came to realize though that if I want
peace, what I want to promote is just that, peace. With this in
mind I directed my passion toward that end."
"Though this humble effort may not touch the war directly
even with the hope of a butterfly effect. I do have the opportunity
to share my hope of peace, healing and beauty. It seems so important
now more than ever to remind ourselves to think with our hearts,
listen to one another letting them know that we truly hear our
feelings," says Dickson adding.
"We certainly can practice peace where we are!"
