Hayes George Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Delos Van Earl
Hayes George Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present, Nazca and Phoenix, a solo exhibition of Delos Van Earl's steel and bronze sculptures. The Nazca and Phoenix series feature some of Earl's most exciting work to date. The exhibit will be on view from Oct. 7 through Nov. 11, 2005.
In the Nazca work, Earl blends layers of bold color and geometric shapes onto fractured fabricated steel forms. The fractures fool the eye and give the appearance of burled wood. The straightforward simplicity of the Phoenix series brings to life elements of both painting and sculpture. Primary colors accent free form shapes and bring the picture plain off the wall and into 3 dimensions. The paintings on steel range from 1-foot squares and bold triptychs to kinetic sculptures in the round.
