Maddi's Gallery Teams up with Make-a-Wish

When Maddi's Gallery in Charlotte, NC, was named the nation's "Best New Gallery" in July at the NICHE Top Retailer Awards Ceremony, that was a wish come true. Now Maddi's is teaming up with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western North Carolina as an expression of thanks to the community that has supported the gallery. One of the world's best-known charities, Make-a-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

A special "thank you" promotion during the entire month of Oct. 2006 will allow Maddi's customers to get 20 percent off of any item. Every time one of the discount coupons is used, owners Diane and Madis Sulg will make a donation to Make-a-Wish. This promotion is being offered at both Maddi's locations: East Boulevard in Charlotte and Birkdale Village in Huntersville, NC.

Nominations for the NICHE Awards - the industry's equivalent of the Oscars - are submitted by more than 18,000 craft artisans, and a panel of independent judges selects only one gallery for this national honor each year. NICHE defines "new gallery" as less than five years old. This is the second year that Maddi's Gallery has earned national recognition. Last year, NICHE named Maddi's Gallery as a "Top 100 Retailer of American Craft"- an honor rarely bestowed on a young business. Maddi's Gallery was less than three years old at the time.

Created by Diane and Madis Sulg, Maddi's Gallery represents more than 750 American artists. The large inventory centers on fine American craft, artist-created jewelry and Southern folk art. Maddi's offers a wide selection of American-made glass, ceramics, fiber and metal items at virtually every price point. Maddi's Gallery first opened in 2002 at 1530 East Boulevard in Charlotte. In 2004, the owners added a second store in Birkdale Village, Huntersville, that is managed by family members Michaella and Jon Dalton. Last year, the Web site for Maddi's Gallery (www.maddisgallery.com) added an e-gallery to the site, offering direct sales on a global basis.
