The Red Clover Gallery Opens Operations in Landrum, SC
Landrum, SC's newest fine art gallery makes its debut on Oct. 6 with an exhibition of Rich Nelson's paintings, which continues through Nov. 15, 2006. The Red Clover Gallery is dedicated to presenting the work of outstanding fine artists from the Upstate, the Blue Ridge, and beyond.
The gallery is very pleased to open with the work of Rich Nelson, who lives just over the state line in Tryon, NC. He is an accomplished portrait artist who also does landscape, still-life, and figurative work. All of these will be represented in the exhibit with an emphasis on landscapes from his recent travels to Cape Cod, Hilton Head, SC, Virginia, and Florida.
Nelson moved to the area two years ago from the Detroit, MI, area to pursue his portrait career in an area where he and his wife Kim could raise their young children and paint the beautiful landscape as well. He graduated from Detroit's College for Creative Studies in 1988 and has been working and teaching ever since. Nelson has delivered over 250 oil portraits and has painted a number of notable commissions including former GM Chairman Jack Smith, former Lowes Chairman Leonard Herring and his wife Rose, and journalist Ted Koppel.
Owned by metal artist Celia Kudro, the Red Clover Gallery is in a beautiful century-old space which she has outfitted nicely for the present day. Located on Landrum's "main street" (214 Rutherford St., also SC Highway 14), it is hard to miss with its royal blue awnings and decorative metal clover motifs. Kim Nelson is the gallery director and is eager to bring in the work of many artists she has gotten to know, as well as seeking out other exceptional artists in many media.
