David Taylor
Artists featured in the exhibit include: Billy Bernstein, Elizabeth Bradford, Chrissie Callejas, David Dooley, John Borden Evans, Maud Gatewood, Chrissie Callejas, David Dooley, John Borden Evans, Maud Gatewood, Russ Jacobsohn, Robert Marsh, Karen Poetzinger, Elsie Popkin, Rudy Rudisill, Walter Stanford, David Taylor and Jutta Vest.
Elizabeth Bradford
"My concept of the exhibition is as an escape from the urban life," said Lin Barnhardt, Visual Arts Director, who curated the exhibition. "Maud Gatewood's September Rain from the Car is an anchor piece. The painting represents a drive, an approach to the countryside.
Rudy Rudisill
"The show reflects three theme components:
the garden (flower and vegetable), the barnyard and pastoral settings,"
he said. "It is a good blend of two- and three-dimensional
works, a juxtaposition of fine art with craft." The works
include three of Billy Bernstein's hand-blown glass chickens,
Robert Marsh's Cow with Nursing Calf, Rudy Rudisill's galvanized
steel barn, David Taylor's cow sculpture and John Borden Evans'
Two and a Half Chickens.
Also on view through Oct. 12 are egg still-life paintings by Wil
Bosbyshell and quilts by Charlotte Doyle.
