Eva Carter Gallery in Charleston, SC, Presents Invitational Exhibit
Eva Carter Gallery in Charleston, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Sunset at Wadmalaw: An Invitational Show, featuring works by 21 artists, on view through Nov. 10, 2007.
One evening last March, a group of artists gathered at Eva Carter's art studio on Wadmalaw Island, SC. What began as a dockside barbecue soon turned into a night of shared artistic inspiration. Above the marsh, a sunset broke through the clouds, which lit up the intercoastal waterway with a palette of colors so bold and striking that the artists all had one idea in mind: "I want to paint this."

Eva Carter Gallery is proud to bring together the collection of paintings all inspired from that evening. Featured are 21 artists including Mickey Williams, Rhett Thurman, Betty Anglin Smith, Margaret Petterson, Eva Carter, Mary Edna Fraser, Shannon Smith, Lese Corrigan, Richard Moryl, Karin Olah, Susan Mayfield, Landis Powers, Kathleen Earthrowl, Martha Thomas, Juliann Bannon, Susan Colwell, Artful Dauber, Sherry Ann Jackoboice, Will Burdick, Bennett Strahan, and Leslie Scanlan. The show offers varied and original interpretations of a singular spectacular sundown.

According to gallery director Karin Olah, "This exhibition will reflect a great diversity of styles. Visitors to the gallery can expect to see the story about that one amazing sunset, visualized in not only realistic paintings, but also in the forms of monotypes, collage art, batik, and the cutting edge abstract art that Eva Carter Gallery is known for."
