RedSky Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Two Exhibits in October
RedSky Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is offering two exhibitions including: works in glass by Kenny Pieper and paintings by Krista Harris, on view through Oct. 10 and abstract acrylic paintings by Suzann Marchin and jewelry by Betsy Klein, on view from Oct. 12 through Nov. 7, 2007.
Kenny Pieper
After Kenny Pieper received his BFA from California College of Art and Design in Oakland, CA, he spent 16 years working as a glassblower in the San Francisco East Bay area. Pieper's career came full circle when he left California and moved back to North Carolina. While constructing a studio there, he worked at Penland School and managed the glassblowing and lampworking studios. It was during this fruitful time that he developed his expertise in the tradition of Italian glass. His goblets and vases, while celebrating function, also convey the elegance, beauty and harmony that he cherishes. The show features his sculptural works as well as functional pieces.
Krista Harris
Colorado artist Krista Harris has created a new body of work that is rich in metaphor, color, and line. It draws the viewer in and doesn't let go. Her color palette is bold and her works diverse. "As an artist, I am constantly balancing elements of form, color, line, and texture, trying to create something magical a place the viewer can sink into, roam around, and explore. Ultimately my favorite art is the kind that seems almost effortless and joyful and that is what I want my art to reflect. I'm seeking something slightly mysterious, sophisticated, often joyful, and both mentally and visually engaging."
Suzann Marchin
Suzann Marchin specializes in non-objective acrylic painting. She won the prestigious Grumbacher gold medal and the Artist for excellence award. Her collectors range from exclusive private collections to public corporations.
Jewelry artist Betsy Klein is creating a refreshing new niche in wearable art, with her unique designs. She mixes exotic, rare, and semi-precious stones to create her jewelry, seen in museums, galleries and exclusive boutiques.
