UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Carolyn Fryberger
Women's Work, an exhibition featuring 30 color photographs by UNC Asheville senior Carolyn Fryberger, will be on display Oct. 2 - 31, 2007, at UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library Third Floor Gallery in Asheville, NC.
Fryberger, an environmental studies major, traveled to Ghana this past summer to volunteer with the Atabu Women's Development Association in the village of Atabu in the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa. As part of Operation Crossroads Africa, a New York based program which sends volunteers to about a dozen African countries each year, Fryberger worked alongside the women for two months, learning to make soap and do beadwork while gaining insight into the opportunities and constraints of the life of Ghanaian women.
