Furman University and the YMCA in Greenville,
SC, Features Works by Olof Sorensen and Diane Hopkins-Hughs
Furman University and the YMCA in Greenville, SC, will present the exhibit, Colorscapes, featuring works by former Furman University professors, Olof Sorensen and Diane Hopkins-Hughs, on view at the FYI Gallery in downtown Greenville, SC, from Oct. 3 through Nov. 16, 2008.
Sorensen's large, bold, shaped canvases are reminiscent of musical compositions in color. Hopkins-Hughs is well-known for her beautifully hand-colored darkroom photographs as well as her traditional black and white works. Both artists have shown their work at the Thompson Gallery at Furman University as well as other local venues.
Sorensen's paintings are in the Mobile Museum, the Federal Reserve Bank, and numerous private collections. Hopkins-Hughs' work is displayed in many museum and private collections, including the Amon Carter Museum, the Georgia Museum of Art, and the South Carolina State Museum. She continues to teach at the Museum Center of Education and participates in Greenville's Open Studio Tour.
FYI is a cooperative venture between Furman University and the YMCA.
