FW Front Gallery at Woolworth Walk
in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Brenda Marks and Gail Gulick
FW Front Gallery at Woolworth Walk in Asheville, NC, will present the exhibit, Mysteries of the Spirit World, featuring mixed media works by Brenda Marks and Gail Gulick, on view from Oct. 10 through Nov. 5, 2008.
Brenda Marks
Brenda Marks, mixed media artist, creates haunted, stormy images using a digital collage format and often adds paint or encaustic methods to complete the piece. Marks is intrigued by "worlds that may exist within our world" and hopes to bring a voice to spirits so they can inform us about the life they led before their death. She lived in New Orleans most of her life and her art is heavily influenced by that area.
Gail Gulick
Gail Gulick, mixed media artist, specializes in creating archetypal spirit masks and rattles made from plaster, gauze, filler and natural objects. The pieces are meant to awaken ones senses and reveal things under the surface that can not be seen or touched. "To remember the self, with all its faces" is one goal she strives to reach with her ethereal and wild pieces. Gulick's mystical art work is very much a result of her studies in Core and Celtic Shamanism.
