Janaury Issue 2003
Center of the Earth Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Group Exhibition
Center of the Earth Gallery is proud to present
the exhibition, Pleasure Places, on view from Jan. 17 through
Feb. 28, 2003. Artists slated to participate are Jacob Cooley,
Page Laughlin, Ruth Ava Lyons, Elena Madden, Joseph Oddo, Richard
Siegel, and Gail Wegodsky. These artists explore interior and
exterior worlds with varied styles and approaches.
Jacob Cooley paints peaceful settings derived from the Carolina
landscape. With amazing attention to light and subtly blended
color, Cooley captures the sublime beauty of the natural world.
Ruth Ava Lyons' paintings present a quiet and contemplative world.
A highly personal iconography speaks of spiritual and poetic reflection
in a world of overwhelming information.
Page Laughlin creates densely layered images of interior spaces,
reminiscent of Architectural Digest and House Beautiful,
which make for an intriguing investigation of painterly space.
