McCauley Pottery Moves to Bigger Space in Summerville, SC

Summerville, SC's McCauley Pottery has moved from its Trolley Road location to a much larger space in the town's historic district, at 114 East Richardson Avenue. There you will find the stoneware face pots and ugly jugs that McCauley is known for, as well as new figurative and functional works in porcelain.

The much larger gallery space allows McCauley to feature the work of a number of other artists. Master woodcrafter Tom Timm is represented through his beautifully crafted tables of mahogany and cherry and chests of old growth cypress and oak - all exquisite in their detail. Herman Leonhardt's "Swamp Art" blown glass includes several of his large, vibrantly colored glass bowls, as well as marbles, flowers and ornaments. Tim Greene's hand carved and meticulously sanded wood bowls, in spalted sugar maple, are a delight to hold.

Figurative paintings by emerging artist, Frank McCauley present fresh, bold images that immediately engage mind and soul in the artist's experience. His approach is sometimes deliberate and precise and sometimes explosive and flowing. Unique designs in handpainted silk by Summerville artist, Nancy Badgley are a nice addition.

Other crafters and artists are represented in the gallery as well. The exciting array and diversity of work in the new gallery call for a lingering visit.

In the studio, McCauley offers a continuing series of pottery classes for the beginner and more advanced students. Memberships are available for those who do not seek formal instruction but would like access to the studio. The next session of classes is open for registration and classes will begin the first week of January.
