January Issue 2004
Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Mott Kornahrens
An exhibit entitled
All About Women by Mott Kornahrens will be at Waterfront
Gallery in Charleston, SC, through Jan. 31, 2004. All the subjects
in these new paintings are women in various stages of their lives.
Kornahrens always has a fresh slant on the figures she portrays
in her paintings. "Funky" is a word she likes to use
to describe them. Best known for her collages, she has ventured
into new territories of the New Year. All works are watercolor
on Yupo, a synthetic paper. After studying this past summer with
George James, master painter from California and experimenting
at her West Ashley studio, she decided to share her works.
Kornahrens is a "Golden Graduate from the School of Nursing at MUSC and has a BS from the College of Charleston. Her passion, however, is art and she has studied with many nationally recognized artists. Kornahrens always comes away from workshops with an idea or trick she incorporates into her new work.
