Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Robert A. Stratton
The Art League
of Henderson County is presenting an exhibition of works by guest
artist Robert A. Stratton of Arden, NC, in the Grace Etheredge
Room at Opportunity House in Hendersonville, NC. The exhibit will
be on view from Jan. 2 - 27, 2005.
Stratton moved to Henderson County after a forty-five year career
with the publishing enterprise of the Presbyterian Church as artist,
art director, book designer, and production director. One of his
paintings, of the Virginia State Capitol grounds as seen from
his office, is in the permanent collection of Richmond's Valentine
Museum. He has sketched and painted all his life.
Stratton received a degree in commercial art from the University of Florida and has studied at the Ringling School of Art and with artists Dong Kingman, Hilton Leech, and Frank Webb. In retirement, he carries a pocket-sized notebook on his travels, sketching to absorb the essence of his subjects. Acrylic and watercolor are his favorite media.
