Transylvania Community Arts Center in Brevard, NC, Presents Works by Members of #7 Arts

Once again, #7 Arts is going "outside the box" with its upcoming exhibition, Multiples by 7, at the Transylvania Community Arts Center in Brevard, NC. The exhibit will feature new works by #7 artists, not only inside, but also outside their primary media. The exhibit opens Jan. 16 and continues through Mar. 3, 2006.

# 7 Arts, a program of the Transylvania Community Arts Council, was founded in March 1998 to support local arts and crafts. The jury process for new members ensures the high quality work for which the co-operative is known and identifies each artist with a primary medium.

Multiples by 7 will include new works by co-op artists in their primary media. But there will be surprises, too, as they present works in other mediums. KaCye Kinchen-Farina, known for her expressive oil landscapes, will display clay tiles. Dave Goldman, who primarily works with natural materials, will show paintings in both oil and acrylic. Karen Swing, a textile artist, will exhibit pastels and acrylic paintings.

In addition to work in other media, #7 Arts members have been challenged to work with the premise of "multiples" - to create new works in which more than one piece is used to create a single image. In keeping with the theme of multiples, clay artist Christine Kosiba is currently creating collections of her pieces. Her wall shrines or niches may be purchased individually or in multiples to make a large statement.
