Davidson Public Library in Davidson, NC, Features Works by June Roberts
Paintings
filled with emotion and dramatic color by local artist, June Roberts,
will be displayed in the Community Room of the Davidson Public
Library in Davidson, NC, from Jan. 9 - 20, 2007.
Roberts, 88 years old, working with oils and pastels, has an exceptional
ability to capture emotion and detail in her portraits. She has
won several awards and scholarships.
Roberts has illustrated books, worked as a fashion artist and traveled with USO Camp Shows Inc. during World War II, sketching wounded veterans in hospitals throughout the US. She is also the mother of six children.
She attended the National Academy and the Art Students League in New York City, where she received many scholarships and awards. She has studied under well-known artists such as Harvey Dinnestein and Ronn Sherr.
Roberts continues to pursue her passion in art by drawing live models at the Icehouse Art Center in Davidson, NC.
