Janaury Issue 2008

Hodges Taylor Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Randy Shull

Hodges Taylor Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is pleased to announce an exciting exhibition: Randy Shull, JUXTAPOSITIONS. The exhibit opens on Jan. 11 and continues through Feb. 29, 2008. In this exhibition, Shull includes paintings and furniture, creating curious relationships, begging the question of where one begins and the other ends.

Shull's love of color is counterbalanced with pieces using only black and white, though the depth of field continues to be an important factor in this work. Energetic brush work lends a tactile quality, one that draws the viewer right into the surface. A multi-talented artist and designer, Shull is featured in the current issue of American CRAFT magazine. The city of Asheville, NC, has commissioned Shull to design a park, offering an enlarged scope for his projects.

Another exhibition, Crossing Boundries, will also open this month at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design in Raleigh, NC. This body of work will travel to The San Francisco Museum of Craft & Design and the Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue, WA. Permanent collections include: The High Museum; the Museum of Art & Design, New York; the Brooklyn Museum of Art; The Mint Museum of Craft + Design; The Mobile Museum of Art; The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans; and the Asheville Art Museum.
