Green Hill Center in Greensboro, NC, Celebrates Annual Gala and Exhibition
Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art, in
Greensboro, NC, presents the annual holiday gala, Collector's
Choice, Sat., Dec. 2 from 7-11pm. This year's exhibition will
feature original works of approximately 150 NC artists. Collector's
Choice is the opening night party and preview of The Winter
Show and is a major fund-raiser for Green Hill Center. The
Winter Show will be open to the public Dec. 3 - 31.
The gala is a project of the Collector's Choice Committee of volunteers,
organized this year by Chair, Kathy Craft and Co-Chair, Laura
Schulman. Collector's Choice has become one of Greensboro's
most popular holiday events, with over 500 people attending each
year, and offers a first-hand opportunity to preview and purchase
fine art from The Winter Show. Proceeds from the sale of
art and the Collector's Choice ticket sales support Green
Hill's educational programs for children and adults, as well as
other activities. The artists receive a commission on all sales.
Reservations for the Collector's Choice gala can be made
by calling 336/333-7460. Tickets are $55 per person for advance
tickets ($50 for members) and $65 at the door ($60 for members).
The evening features cocktails and buffet, catered by The Commissary
of Greensboro, and the opportunity to be among the first to purchase
art from the Winter Show before it officially opens to
the public. An "advance purchase plan" is available
which includes an invitation to the early preview Nov. 30, prior
to Collector's Choice. Call 336/333-7460 for more information.
The Winter Show is Green Hill's annual holiday exhibition
showcasing works in all media and the high quality of craftsmanship
among artists across the state. A holiday tradition, the show
gives the public a rare opportunity to view and purchase from
a wide variety of art: perfect for art collectors and holiday
shoppers looking for that one-of-a-kind gift. Included are works
in clay, glass, fiber and textiles; painting, drawing, printmaking,
and sculpture, along with wood and mixed media.
Celebrating 26 years in 2000, Green Hill Center for North Carolina
Art is a non-profit art gallery and center presenting exhibitions
and educational programs focusing primarily on North Carolina
art. It is the only facility of its kind in NC. In the ten years
since its move into the Greensboro Cultural Center, Green Hill's
programming has grown tremendously, reaching out to a broad audience.
