Theatre Art Galleries in High Point, NC, Offers Four New Exhibitions

Theatre Art Galleries in High Point, NC, is hosting an exciting exhibition of artworks by artists who participated in a unique international art colony retreat on Bald Head Island, NC, during the fall of 2000. No Boundaries 2000 will be shown in TAG's main gallery Nov. 2 through Dec. 16.

This group, calling themselves, No Boundaries, consists of over twenty-five artists from areas as diverse as Bulgaria, Columbia, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Iran, Macedonia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and (of course) the US. They worked together for inspiration, encouragement, productivity and just plain fun. And the resulting artworks reflect this excitement. No Boundaries 2000 was recently exhibited at The Fayetteville Museum of Art, in Fayetteville, NC, and will travel to New York City's Lincoln Center in spring 2002.

One of the founders of No Boundaries, Pamela Wallace Toll, will be exhibiting recent monumental drawings in Gallery B during this same time. Toll received a BA in Art and English from UNC-Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC, and has continued her studies in art at East Carolina University, Florida Atlantic University and the University of Cincinnati. She has exhibited at St. John's Museum in Wilmington, NC, Weatherspoon Art Gallery in Greensboro, NC, University of NC-Wilmington, Lincoln Center NYC, and Fayetteville Art Museum. Toll's work expresses a complex surface reality with a fluid dream-like style.

In 1990 Toll and Dick Roberts formed Acme Art, a cooperative studio and performance space for artists in Wilmington. In the fall of 1994 Toll attended an International Art Colony in Macedonia. She was inspired by this experience and gradually worked to form this international art colony for her home of Wilmington. "I've dreamed about it since the first time I went over there. The biggest gift you can give an artist is time to work. I feel like I wanted to give it back." Gayle Tustin joined Toll and Roberts in their efforts to work with international artists. They traveled widely, including visits to Greece, Macedonia, France and Turkey. International artists from those countries began to visit and exhibit in Wilmington. In July 1998, No Boundaries, Inc., a nonprofit organization was founded by Roberts, Toll and Tustin. The first retreat, Meeting Without Boundaries 1998 was held for two weeks in mid-Nov. TAG is pleased to host this special gathering of international artworks.

Also exhibiting at TAG will be the annual Unframed & Under 300 holiday gift show, which will be shown in the upstairs hallway. Works from twenty artists will be offered at low prices - less than $300. This is the third year for this very successful group show.

In Gallery C, the High Point Fine Art Guild will hosts their annual Fall Juried Show.
