November Issue 2001
Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Smith & Kennedy
An exhibition of new works by Amelia Rose Smith and J. Michael Kennedy will open Nov. 16 at the Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC. The exhibition entitled, Morning, Noon and Night, will continue through the end of Dec.
Amelia Rose Smith
Smith will be presenting a series of pastel and watercolor landscapes in her signature brightly colored palette. A Mount Pleasant, SC, native, the artist has studied with such acclaimed artists as Ovanes Berberian, Zoltan Zabo, Charles Movalli, Sondra Freckleton and Rhett Thurman. Smith's home and studio, located on a salt marsh and her many boat excursions around the creeks and marshes of the Lowcountry provide unending subject matter for her painting pursuits.
J. Michael Kennedy
J. Michael Kennedy is known for his depiction of light and shadows, especially in and around the historic architecture of Charleston's streets and gardens. His oil paintings as well as pastels are filled with the bright colors as he sees them in our sunny subtropical climate.
Smith and Kennedy are two of the founding members of Waterfront Gallery and exhibit in various galleries along the Southeast coast of the US. Their works are included in collections throughout the country as well as in many overseas collections.
