Two Exhibits at Associated Artists of Winston-Salem in Winston-Salem, NC
Associated Artists of Winston-Salem, NC, is pleased to announce New Exhibiting Members, an invitational exhibition of the newest works by artists recently juried to the select Exhibiting Member Level by a committee of professional artists. Also on view is the exhibit An American Experience 2002, a National Juried Fine Art Competition and Show. Both exhibits are on view through Nov. 23, 2002.
The New Exhibiting Members, show will be on display in the RJR Gallery in the Sawtooth Building. Featured artists are Amy Evans, Julie Hayes, Alexis Lavine, Raymond Reid and Vicki Schober.
An American Experience 2002 will focus on the uniqueness our experience as Americans and the fabric of our cultural heritage. The exhibit will feature 79 works by 74 artists from 24 states. Charlotte Vestal Brown selected the work from 799 slides submitted by artists from across the country
Brown is the Director of the Gallery of Art and Design at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. She received her BA in Modern European History from Woman's College of UNC-Greensboro in 1964, and her Ph.D. in the History of Art from the UNC-Chapel Hill in 1975. She attended the Attingham Summer Study Program, Sheffeld, Oxford, in 1978, and studied Exhibition Development at the Kellogg Foundation, Field Museum, Chicago, IL, 1986. She wrote "The Humanities: Cultural Roots and Continuities" with M.A.Witt et.al. (D.C Heath. Boston, 1979)
