Asheville Gallery Of Art in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Robert Mahosky
Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, features works by Robert Mahosky, Artist-of-the-Month for Nov., 2002.
Many of Mahosky's works are based on people, places, and events he has encountered while working as a videographer. A number of his paintings are based on his experiences videotaping the children of Rwanda right after the massacre when he reported for a special news series.
Mahosky says of his work: "I've always been interested in the details. That is why I choose to work on thickly treated paper rather than canvass. I meticulously draw each painting out in graphite and/or pen and ink, then I lay in the color with oil glazes. That's how I see the world... Intricate lines with layers of color, moments of light."
