November Issue 2002
ElderArt Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Presents New Works by Wayne Trapp
ElderArt Gallery in Charlotte, NC's SouthEnd district, will present recent oil paintings, drawings and sculptures by Wayne Trapp during his first one-man show in Charlotte. The exhibition entitled, Recent Paintings and Sculptures, will be on view from Nov. 1 - 30, 2002.
"Wayne Trapp is considered to be one of America's most innovative and creative contemporary artists" says Larry Elder, owner of ElderArt Gallery. "His abstract paintings are rich in color and strong on emotion." The exhibition will feature oil paintings on canvas as well as sculptures that were created especially for this show at ElderArt.
Trapp's latest sculptures are of cast aluminum
with patina and are based upon images he saw while observing
the Hopi Indians on a recent trip to New Mexico and other areas
of the southwest. Trapp is a celebrated sculptor and has worked
in stone and steel over several years. His creations range from
colossal outdoor pieces for corporate clients to smaller more
particular pieces for the private collector.
From his studio near Blowing Rock, NC, Trapp has recently created
some of his boldest paintings on canvas. His oil paintings deliver
a feast of color and strokes saturated with childlike curiosity
and adult confidence. His unbridled energy and insatiable passion
for everything that crosses his path are transferred to canvas
in the exhibition at ElderArt Gallery.
During the exhibition, Trapp will be on hand to sign copies of
his book, Wayne Trapp The Journal of a Sculptor. In his
book Trapp explores the personal journey of a sculptor through
intimate journal passages and a phenomenal outpouring of images
spanning some forty years of exceptional creativity.
