Cameo Fine Art Gallery in Columbia, SC, Offers Works by Leanne Kelley-Badeaux
Cameo
Fine Art Gallery, located in the Congaree Vista of Columbia, SC,
is proud to present Beautiful Women, featuring works by
Leanne Kelley-Badeaux. The exhibition will be Cameo's offering
for the "2005 Vista Lights", opening on Nov. 17 and
continuing through Dec. 2, 2005.
Kelley-Badeaux graduated from Columbia College with a BA in Studio
Art. She has been a free lance artist since 1998 focusing on functional
art (i.e. hand painted accessories, jewelry, ladies hand bags
and furniture) which convey the most original and unusual gift
ideas. Kelley-Badeaux has participated in numerous exhibits and
shows throughout the state. She resides in Columbia with her husband,
cat and Chihuahua.
Kelley-Badeaux grew up knowing she wanted to become an artist.
Her imagination and wonderment of art shined through even as a
child. Her inspiration, even then, was looking at the beautiful
colors, brush strokes and ideas portrayed in paintings by artist
world wide. Kelley-Badeaux enjoys seeing the reaction of spectators
as they view her body of work.
In addition to the hand painted accessories, Kelley-Badeaux has
been experimenting with disparate surfaces and textures and hues
to capture a fantasy like aura of her subjects and/or objects
in her paintings. As she experimented with these images, she began
to feel they represented stages and transitions in her own life.
Kelley-Badeaux's latest collection of art focuses on the strong
presence of women. All of her subjects have bright, ruby red lips,
pale skin and expressive eyes. In many of her works she has included
animals sitting beside or being held by her subjects. The beautiful
contrasts and colors of her paintings illustrate the great imagination
of the artist.
The collection of art displayed during the "Vista Lights"
are mixed media (pastels, charcoal, ink and watercolor on paper).
Mixed media is using, involving or encompassing several medias
on one piece of art. Kelley-Badeaux's work is best known for simple
lines that produce thoughtful, whimsical images usually idealistic
of woman and animals. Her work is sensitive to color and composition
which is shaped by her close relationship with woman and her love
of animals.
