Green Rice Designs & Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Group Exhibition
Green Rice Designs & Gallery in Charlotte,
NC, is excited to present the exhibit, Opening Night: Where
Creativity +Talent +Friends= Opening Night. The exhibition
featuring works by Jack Swinney, Miriam Durkin, Pamela Freeman
and Pam Swinney, will be on view through Nov. 15, 2005.
Opening Night will feature handmade jewelry, fine figure
drawings, and oil paintings. Paintings will range from scenes
at the Penguin Grill to views of solitude and contemplation.
Jack Swinney's paintings are of restaurants
and bars from London, Annapolis, Charleston and Charlotte, including
the incomparable social setting of the Penguin Grill on Thomas
Ave.
Miriam Durkin has been drawing all her life, but she has been
primarily creating figurative works in a variety of media for
six years. She enjoys the immediacy and spontaneity of drawings,
and using her skills to capture in a few lines and minimal shadows
the gracefulness or tension of humans alone.
Pamela Freeman earned a Bachelor of Arts in studio art in the late 1960's, but was discouraged in her pursuit and did not continue studying and producing until four years ago. She loves working with the figure, using sketches of models, or her own reflection in a mirror. Freeman also enjoys the process of painting in nature and simplifying what she sees. She tries to work from life whenever possible.
For years Pam Swinney has been finding fine treasures everywhere she ventures and she uses these unique pieces in creating her fun and fabulous jewelry. You will often see a mixture of vintage with a modern feel in her skillfully created works. Swinney credits her skill development to her time at Penland School of Crafts.
Green Rice Designs & Gallery will also
be exhibiting works of several other local and regional artists.
