City Art Gallery in North Charleston, SC, Features Annual Oil Painters Exhibit and Paintings by Russian Artists
The City of North Charleston's Cultural Arts Department is pleased to announce that during the month of November the City Gallery will be hosting a traveling exhibit from the South Carolina State Museum and works by Russian Artists. Representative artists from across the state will be a part of the NBSC Oil Painters Invitational exhibit on view from Nov. 1-30, 2005. These original works depict a wide variety of painting styles, techniques, and subject matter. Also on view will be original works by eighteen Russian artists on view from Nov. 14-21, 2005.
The special showing of works by Russian artists
will include approximately thirty pieces and is presented as the
first of many proposed international exhibits, in partnership
with the World Trade Center that will be located in North Charleston.
Plans are underway to build a new World Trade Center facility
on a site adjacent to the North Charleston Performing Arts and
Convention Center.
Many of the exhibiting artists are members of the Artist Union
of Russia, and the International Association of Art "UNESCO".
Their works vary in medium, subject matter, style, and technique.
The goal of this international show is to share the talents of
these gifted artists with a broad spectrum of viewers and promote
both educational experiences and economic development.
The Cultural Arts Program is the recipient of the 2000 Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Award for the Arts and receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, SC Arts Commission, the US Department of HUD, and the corporate community.
