Charles Street Gallery in Beaufort, SC, Features Works by Linda Sheppard
The Charles Street Gallery in Beaufort, SC, is launching their 8th season of compelling art in the historic home that is now their gallery and garden. Linda Sheppard's exhibition, Working through to the Soul of Beaufort, commences on Nov. 10 and continues through Dec. 2, 2006. Sheppard's work will include pastels, oils, drawings and watercolors. "The challenge for me," Sheppard said, "has been to discover the spirit in people and places, and to develop my technical skills to a high enough level to tell the story I discover."
Sheppard moved to Beaufort a year ago, from New York, and found a myriad of images to inspire her Soul of Beaufort show. "I've captured people who inspire me, who are typical of Beaufort," she explained. Scenes and folks include festivities from a church's 4th of July festival, and a view of the Water Festival at night from the water.
Sheppard has exhibited at the venues of the Pastel Society of America, the American Artists Professional League, the National Academy of Design, and in Catherine Lorillard Wolfe juried shows. The Phoenix Symphony featured her work in the "Feast of Art, Music and Nature" event. She teaches drawing and painting workshops at Fletcher Farm School of Arts in Vermont.
Sheppard's exhibit is followed in December by the Charles Street Gallery's Annual Invitational, which has the theme of "Mermaids, Salt, and Depth". The Invitational commences on Dec. 8, 2006. Past Invitationals have included Lynn Brown, Beth Brya, Rebecca Davenport, Sharon DeAlexandris, Carol Henry, Benton Lutz, Priscilla Merrick, Jim Rothnie, Alexandra Sharma, Roger Steele, and Joan Templar. Additional shows and receptions will follow each month through May 2007. This 8th season continues the Charles Street Gallery's tradition of excellent art and out-going community involvement.
