Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, Offers Works by Kenneth Hanger

The Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, will present an exhibit of works by Kenneth Hanger. The exhibition of watercolor and oils of still life, portraits, and landscapes, will be on view in the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery from Nov. 1 - 30, 2006.

Hanger had the following to say about himself and his work: "I have drawn and painted since early youth, growing up in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC. I began pursuing art seriously in the 1980's with watercolors holding my interest. In the 1990's I began a regular series of classes with Charleston artist Rhett Thurman, and have painted watercolors also with local artist Mary Milligan and with Charles Reid. After painting in waters for twenty years I added oils to my repertoire and currently enjoy both. I continue to paint regularly with Rhett and also have painted with Kim English and Bill Dunlap. I enjoy the softness and looseness of watercolors as well as their portability. Oils bring out vividness and luster to my scenes. I enjoy portraiture, landscapes and still life, with plein air giving pieces a feeling of spontaneity when this is available. I feel that I am continuing to evolve, am committed to this endeavor and truly look forward to new frontiers."
