Emily Eve Weinstein in Durham, NC, Offers 8th Annual Open Studio
Emily Eve Weinstein in Durham, NC, will open her studio three weekends for the, 8th Annual Open Studio - Magic Places to Saving Magic Places, featuring works by Weinstein. At this years open studio there will be three dozen new landscapes painted on reclaimed wood, more lilliputian cut-outs and a separate exhibit entitled Flash Back, circa 1974. The studio will be open on Nov. 18 -19, Dec. 9-10 & 16-17, from 10am-5pm.
Weinstein has changed her fourth book's title from Magic Places to Saving Magic Places. Both she and painting partner Alice Griffin discovered that an overwhelming number of natural vistas in the Triangle Area are in jeopardy. They found themselves embroiled in saving magic places just as often as painting them.
Weinstein and Griffin, along with the Erwin Area Neighborhood Group and over fifty neighborhoods, worked successfully in saving 44 precious acres of Duke Forest, helped expeditiously by the addition of another sixty acres, presented by land stewards Wade and Carolyn Penny. The two-year odyssey involved in getting four jurisdictions onboard and people raising over $200,000, along with information of how citizens' groups worked together and apart, is well chronicled in Weinstein's Saving Magic Places. All of the art work from the Saving Magic Places Series will be on view.
Moon Book, published by Discovery Press, is a journey of a year of painting by moonlight, resulting in a collection of 72 paintings and accompanying diary. Cat Book introduces us to 80 fabulous rescued felines, captured in 82 monoprints. Dog Book, illustrated with oil portraits, presents us with 40 remarkable stories of rescued canines. Both Dog Book and Cat Book are published by Beau Soleil Press and are used nationally at animal welfare events.
