Gallery C in Raleigh, NC, Features Works by Laura Lacambra Shubert
Gallery
C in Raleigh, NC, is presenting the exhibit, The Good Life,
featuring new oils and acrylics on canvas by Laura Lacambra Shubert,
on view through Nov. 11, 2006.
Shubert is without a doubt, one of the most exciting
artists showing in North Carolina today. The artist is
nationally renowned for her bold, painterly depictions of the
figure, the still-life and intimate interior and exterior
scenes. Dramatic cropping, strong use of lights and darks,
and lush paint all have set Shubert apart and made her work highly
desirable.
The daughter of a Basque father and American mother, Shubert was
born in Durham, NC, and grew up in Florida and Spain. She
chose art as a career at an early age and studied painting, drawing
and printmaking at Southern Methodist University, where she received
her BFA in 1986. After studying painting at Academie Port Royal,
in Paris, France for one year, she returned to the United States
where she began exhibiting in solo and group shows across the
country. In 2000, she was named a fellow of the Royal Society
of Arts in London, England (established in 1754).
Shubert's work can be found in private and corporate collections
in the United States and abroad.
