The North End Gallery in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Jack Fontana and Angelique Tassistro
The North End Gallery in Asheville, NC, is featuring the large format acrylic works of Jack Fontana and the functional ceramics of Angelique Tassistro in a show entitled, Painterly Synergy, on view through Nov. 30, 2006.
If you think paintings and ceramics don't go together, think again! Two regional artists are celebrating their shared vision at the North End Gallery in a unique show, entitled Painterly Synergy. Large format painter, Jack Fontana, whose work is called "retro-post-impressionism", will be featured with ceramicist, Angelique Tassistro.
Gallery Director, Gabriella Samuel first saw Tassistro's whimsical and functional art earlier this year and was struck by the similarity between her light, bright palette and painterly brush strokes and the large paintings of Fontana's. The two artists and Samuel met a short time later and came up with a show in which Fontana would incorporate some of Tassistro's vases into his paintings and Tassistro would create ceramics to mimic the vase and pottery designs in Fontana's paintings. Together, they have created a collaborative installation piece in which Tassistro's vases will stand in front of Fontana's painted flowers, creating a unique and beautiful 2-D-3-D post-impressionistic expression.
