Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC, Features Works by Pamela Baldwin

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC, is offering an exhibit of paintings by Pamela Baldwin, on view in the Bassett Gallery, on view through Nov. 16, 2007.

"Pamela captures the essence and energy of the subjects in her paintings," said Julie Trott, gallery curator. "Her masterful technique brings to life her compassion for animals and nature. Pamela captures the essence and energy of the subjects in her paintings. Her masterful technique brings to life her compassion for animals and nature."

Wildlife artist, designer, and environmentalist, Baldwin is dedicated to children's health and well-being. She grew up in a family marked by strong women graced with an artistic streak revealed in lifetimes of collecting porcelains, silver, Chinese snuff bottles, crystal, glass, and art. The traditional fine arts of the home - knitting, embroidery, lace making, and needlepoint - were learned from her elders. Her artistic tendencies were clearly shaped by those around her.

Baldwin concentrates her artistic talents on animal art and portraiture, the design of French porcelain, English enamel boxes, and American embroidered linens, as well as fabrics and wallpapers for the home. Her refined designs reflect a lifetime of seeing and understanding the natural world and making it appear luminously alive in applied and fine arts. The results are lyrical and expressive images and patterns in various media, often featuring endangered birds, butterflies, and other species.

Baldwin's work was featured on the covers of two recent issues of Salt Block Gazette, the premiere equine publication for the Carolinas.  She is also participating in the Masters of Foxhounds Association's Centennial Traveling Art Exhibition which will be held at various venues across the country throughout 2007.
