The Morning Times Gallery in Raleigh, NC, Features Works by Julie Williams Dixon and Lindsey Marla Lynch
The Morning Times Gallery in Raleigh, NC, will present the exhibit, Above The Fray: Photographs from Dix Hill, featuring new work by Julie Williams Dixon and Lindsey Marla Lynch, on view from Nov. 2 - 30, 2007.
Julie Williams Dixon has captured images that juxtapose the old and the new, light and shadow, peeling paint on the old cottages with the shiny glass of downtown's newest buildings. Sometimes purposefully creating photographs that confuse day for night, or current time for the distant past, her selections range from expansive landscapes to close ups of screen door handles. Dixon owns Words and Pictures, a video and film production company here in Raleigh. A photographer, filmmaker and poet, she considers Dix Hill a sanctuary that should be preserved.
Lindsey Marla Lynch's work in Above the Fray contemplates the balance and distinction in the pieces that make a landscape. Focusing on the dichotomy between the demure and the decaying, her images question the facade, impermeability, and relationships between the inner and outer. This series finds beauty in the forgotten. Lynch lives and works out of Raleigh and owns Lindsey Marla Photography.
