November Issue 2007

22nd Annual Vista Lights Celebration Returns Nov. 15, 2007, in Columbia, SC

The Vista's signature open house kicks off the holiday season with a night of culture, cuisine and artistic performances in the heart of Columbia, SC, on Nov. 15, 2007, from 5-10pm. More than 60 galleries, shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment venues will open their doors for the evening to showcase holiday treasures, followed by the annual tree lighting ceremony with Mayor Bob Coble.

That evening the Vista will be pedestrian-only on Gervais Street stretching from Park to Pulaski streets.

The tree-lighting ceremony will take place at 7pm at the intersection of Gervais and Lincoln streets, featuring Mayor Bob Coble and other local dignitaries. This year's tree will feature blazing red lights.

Attendees can enjoy the spirit of the season with horse-drawn carriage rides departing from Publix's at the corner of Gervais and Huger. Commemorative souvenirs will be available at participating restaurants and bars, with proceeds going to benefit the Vista Guild. Many restaurants will offer savory hors d'oeuvres to complement specialty brews from Budweiser, which is sponsoring the event. The Vista Guild will also be supporting March of Dimes efforts to raise awareness for prenatal health.
