Craven Allen Gallery in Durham, NC,
Features Works by Paul Hrusovsky and Jim Lux
Craven Allen Gallery in Durham, NC, will present a two person show featuring new paintings by Paul Hrusovsky and large pit fired pots by Jim Lux, on view from Nov. 15 through Jan. 3, 2009.
Hrusovsky's latest work is inspired by sources as diverse as the botanical photographs of Karl Blossfeldt and the silhouettes of Kara Walker, combined with his signature layering of paint and texture. Lux will push the boundaries of size in his latest work. His pots are known for their graceful proportions, built up by hand from narrow bases, with subtle finishes enhanced in their firing by the unpredictable alchemy of wood smoke.
