Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features
Works by William Jameson
Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present an exhibit by acclaimed artist, William Jameson, on view Nov, 7 through Dec, 2, 2008.
A native South Carolinian, Jameson grew up surrounded by the natural beauty and rich history of South Carolina. In his work, Jameson combines his lifelong love of nature and history with his passion for painting to create personal, unfettered glimpses of the rural landscape, still largely untouched by human intrusion.
Jameson's approach to nature results in compositions that go beyond merely depicting the surface beauty offered by the environs; by infusing his detailed depictions with color and light, he reveals to the observer the mystery and power of nature. Throughout his career, Jameson has rejected the term "scene" in reference to his work, which he defines as explorations.
After studying under Frank Rampola at the Ringling School of Art in Florida, Jameson continued his studies while teaching landscape painting and life drawing as a graduate assistant at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. His work is in numerous public and private collections throughout the United States including the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, LA.
Jameson and his wife, Anne, also a painter, currently reside in Saluda, NC, and are inspired by the world around them.
Shain Gallery located in the heart of Myers Park in Charlotte, has been on the forefront of the Charlotte art scene, since opening their doors in 1998. The gallery represents many regional and national artists.
