Mars Hill College Presents Works by Chenoweth and Halligan in Mars Hill, NC

Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, NC, just a few miles north of Asheville, will offer an exhibition of new paintings and ceramics by Janet Chenoweth and Roger Halligan. The exhibition will be on view in the Weizenblatt Art Gallery from Dec. 5 through Jan. 29, 2001.

Janet Chenoweth's iconic images evoke a sense of the sacred in nature. Presenting painted symbolic forms derived from her environment in frontal space, she engages the viewer to reconsider the context of growth, change, and one's surroundings.

Roger Halligan's cement drawings utilize various materials including powered metals, bits of tire, pottery shards, and of course - cement. "This is pure abstraction in search of symbols, owing as much to early cave art as it does to the Abstract Expressionists," says Halligan.
