(rh)2 Exhibit To Highlight Texture With Sculpture, Photography in Asheboro, NC
A sculptor and a photographer will join forces to explore the theme of texture in (rh)2: subtexture, showing at the Randolph Arts Guild's WM. Moring, Jr. Art Center in Asheboro, NC. The exhibit includes cement drawings by Roger Halligan and photographs by Ross Halt and will continue through Dec. 8.
Halligan's works are mixed media relief sculptures composed of concrete and fragments from our daily lives. Holt's photography explores the abstract qualities of concrete things, and the surreal quality of real things.
At a Randolph Arts Guild juried show two years ago, the two artists observed a connection between the texture of Halligan's sculpture and the texture in the subjects of Holt's photographs, and proposed a joint show.
The exhibit will include one impressive (and large) collaborative project that communicates the strengths of both media.
Halligan is a professional free-lance artist and partner in Two Oaks Studio, a company specializing in the design and construction of hardscape elements for unique indoor and outdoor environments. His work has appeared in many exhibitions and permanent collections along the east coast, and he is listed in Who's Who in American Art.
Holt is a photographer by avocation who had his first gallery show entitled ... aim the nicest precision at the Randolph Arts Guild in 1996. He is Head of Reference at Randolph County Public Library, and vice-president/ president elect of the North Carolina Library Association. Holt is participating in the exhibit with support from the Central Piedmont Regional Artists Hub and the North Carolina Arts Council.
