New Gallery, New Ideas - Fine Art Collector Opens in Charleston, SC
Fine Art Collector, a new gallery specializing in modern, abstract, and contemporary art, recently opened in the Shoppes at Fountain Walk by the IMAX Theatre and the SC Aquarium in Charleston, SC. The gallery has quickly become known for its lively tenor, which is immediately evident from the selection of bright, bold abstract art that greets visitors at the door.
The gallery represents local artists Robert Sweeny, Erica Love, and Préot Buxton, all graduates of the Rhode Island School of Design as well as noted international artists, including Andreas Jordi of Switzerland and Dan Caplan from Cape Town, South Africa. The selection of art was carefully chosen to reflect a varied approach to modern art that includes explosive expressionistic work to subtle abstractions of land and cityscapes that appeal to those with more traditional tastes.
Introductions to many fresh approaches to art will be offered, including photography and digital art, through rotating monthly exhibitions that run the first three weeks of every month. The last week of every month is devoted to artists who are not currently exhibiting their work, in "Fresh Paint a monthly, salon-style exhibit that begins every third Thursday and runs for one week.
Beginning Dec. 21, 2002, the gallery will host a solo art exhibit every Sunday of work from a local student, ages 4 to 18, who have been selected from submissions from area art teachers. The program was designed to create a vehicle that encourages and promotes young, artistic talent and cultivates a supportive and responsive young audience at the same time. Each week, a collection of the artists' work will be framed and displayed on easels throughout the gallery for public viewing. The artists will be on hand to discuss their work and audiences of all ages will be invited to leave words of encouragement and praise in a guestbook for the artist to keep.
Fountain Walk, overlooking the Charleston Harbor, provides the perfect venue for this new concept gallery, with an exciting variety of boutique gift shops, galleries, salon, and a new waterfront restaurant. Convenient parking and covered terraces allow visitors to enjoy shopping rain or shine. Lovely fountains that are lit by night, cascade alongside the promenade of Fountain Walk creating a memorable setting for the gallery's monthly evening events.
