Gibbes Museum of Art's Women's Council Hosts House & Garden Tour in Charleston, SC
Some of downtown Charleston, SC's most elegant private residences and gardens will be featured on the 11th Annual Gibbes Museum of Art Women's Council Holiday Tour of Houses and Gardens on Dec. 14, 2002, from 1-4pm. Tickets are $35 each.
The docent-led tour will highlight four select properties located on the historic Charleston peninsula. Of special note are beautiful holiday decorations and manicured gardens custom designed by renowned Charleston landscaper, Robert C. Chestnut, ASLA. "These will offer you glimpses into some of the city's finest historical houses and best kept secret gardens, ready to celebrate the Christmas season!" declares Mrs. Chestnut, Co-Chair for the event. As an added bonus, the Chestnuts' personal garden will be included on tour this year.
Working under the auspices of the Carolina Art Association, the Women's Council is the primary support organization for the Gibbes Museum of Art. "The Holiday Tour provides funding for educational programs offered in the museum's art studio, special exhibitions, public services and general operating expenses.
