Holiday Happenings in North Wilkesboro and Wilkesboro, NC
Throughout the month of Dec., 2002, the Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC, will sponsor and host many holiday activities. The Cultural Arts Council of Wilkes (CACW) in Wilkesboro, NC, is also planning holiday events.
The Inaugural Wilkes Art Gallery Holiday Tour of Homes will be Sat., Dec. 7. The event begins at 6pm with tours of the homes of Ginnie and Bob Story, Virginia Brame, Lori and Ronnie Walsh and Jim Lyall. As guests stroll through beautifully decorated homes, they can enjoy the many diverse sights and sounds of Christmas and delectable holiday treats presented by our gracious homeowners. The evening will culminate with a Holiday Dessert Reception at Wilkes Art Gallery. Beginning at 7pm, the Gallery will be open for tour-goers to enjoy hot coffee, eggnog and delicious desserts. Tickets for the event will be available through any Wilkes Art Gallery Board member, at the Gallery or through the Cultural Arts Council of Wilkes. They are $20 per person or $35 per couple.
A fun-filled morning of Holiday craft is also planned for Dec. 7. Participants in the Gallery's 2nd Annual Ornament Making workshop will enjoy hot cider as instructor Paulette Wood teaches them to create truly unique Christmas ornaments. Participants will be amazed by their own beautiful creations. Please register for this class by Dec. 4. The cost is $10 for WAG members and $12 for non-members.
The Cultural Arts Council of Wilkes (CACW), an umbrella agency for the arts in Wilkes County, also has activities planned for the Holiday season. On Dec. 14 and 15, the CACW is hosting All Through the House at the Osborne Homeplace on Main Street, Wilkesboro, NC, from 1-5pm. The event will feature rooms decorated for the holidays in a variety of styles. Guests will enjoy music provided by the Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society and Wilkes County students. Carmela Peters of Wilkesboro will have wassail, hot cocoa and fresh baked treats, Tickets for this event are $10 per person and available at the CACW office, the Wilkes Art Gallery or from members of the Wilkes County Quilt Guild.
